Okay, I’m starting this out by saying: BRYCE AVARY & CREW PUT ON A HELL OF A SHOW, OK.
Oh my God, that was by far one of the top 3 best shows I’ve ever been to, ever. And that’s saying something because I’ve been to a lot of shows.
I won’t go into too much detail about before the show, but Skitch and I got lost because of construction and we couldn’t find a parking spot and ended up in the projects and it was insanely stressful and I cussed a lot and I almost cried. BUT in the end, we found a spot and all was well.
We met up with Paige once we got inside. She’s going with me to see This Prov & fun. next month AND I’M INSANELY STOKED ABOUT IT. But yeah, the three bands before TRS were great, Parachute Musical especially, but they’re always great so that’s not really anything new.
Bryce’s set was about an hour long which is one of the longest sets I’ve witnessed at Rocketown. Usually the bands only play for like, 20 or 30 minutes if even that. BUT YEAH. I don’t remember the song order, but he played a lot of old stuff which I was very thankful for. AND YOU GUYS, OH MY GOD, HE COVERED BLACKBIRD BY THE BEATLES. Usually I’m not a huge fan of covers, but he did such an amazing job. He played a few more songs and then he walked off stage and everyone was like “um, wtf?” but then all of a sudden, everyone started turning around and TRS’s tech guy was setting up a mic at the back of the crowd! Bryce came up with his acoustic AND SANG MAPS BY THE YEAH YEAH YEAHS. DO YOU EVEN UNDERSTAND HOW INSANELY EPIC THAT WAS!? BRYCE AVARY WAS TWO FEET AWAY FROM ME SINGING MAPS! I got goosebumps, it was so great. Then blah blah blah, more songs, more epicness, and then the show was over.
I didn’t get to meet him, but I did touch his thigh as he crowd surfed at one point so it’s all good. Matt whatshisbucket from Relient K was there, too. He’s seriously at like, every Rocketown show, it’s ridiculous.
BUT YEAH. That’s my “brief” overview of tonight. It was insanely perfect and Bryce made me cry a bit at the end of So, In This Hour… and yeah, it was just epic.
(Sorry the picture sucks so bad. My camera on my phone sucks really bad.)
